Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Commercials to join our senior leadership team. This pivotal role will oversee all commercial activities within the organization, ensuring strategic alignment and optimizing our revenue streams while driving growth and profitability in a competitive market.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development:

Proactively seek, develop, and acquire business prospects across both public and private sectors, with the aim of driving the public and commercial business, by providing a wide range of services.

Commercial Operations:
Lead and manage the development of a robust sales operating model, including:

Develop procedures and policies for core sales operations functions (lead andopportunity management; recruitment and training, tools of trade, incentives, size and structure, government reporting and performance management etc.).
Implement procedures and policies throughout the sales function, monitor andensure compliance, continually test and improve.

Lead and Manage Marketing Operations, including:

Lead market research, including the market and competitive landscape to identifyanalyze threats and opportunities.
Segment Nigeria’s customers and develop tailored strategies to target
Identify trends in customer behavior closely following sales, product usage, customerretention, upgrades and competitors, leveraging this data to enhance our commercial strategy.
Supervise all marketing channels and methods to ensure appropriate information iseffectively communicated to external audiences (including leading campaigns).
Establish and manage external partnerships, including negotiating ongoing contractswith suppliers and customers, managing and reviewing contracts and making recommendations regarding commerciality.

Leadership, Management & Culture:

Develop and lead a team of sales and commercial managers and analysts, including full responsibility for coaching and their professional development.
Manage the team’s work plan and workload to ensure delivery of agreed goals.
Help recruit, collaborate with, coordinate and train diverse teams such as Marketing and especially field sales and credit teams.
Provide strong leadership, management and coaching for regional sales teams, including with support to other members of the Management Team
Responsible for review and approval of the bottom-up sales plan in alignment with the top-down volume strategy and taking ownership of the accuracy of the data provided.
Responsible for managing the sales team to deliver on the volume and coverage objectives as detailed by the sales leadership team.
Should plan the distribution of products to project sites from the best point of shipment to minimize distribution cost.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Actively participate within the capital market industry by cultivating healthy relationships with both public and private sector clients/prospects, strategically gathering market information, with the aim of increasing WATT Renewables market visibility, as well as broadening own network of contacts to increase pipeline of mandates.
Build solid relationships with the customers at various levels through planned regular field visits, problem resolution and professional advice when and where needed.

Business Strategy:

Support the Management Team in defining and implementing the company’s business strategy in line with conditions in its operating environment and helping to drive the implementation of strategic initiatives that sustain / improve the company’s competitive advantage within its operating environment.

Product Development:

Lead the development and improvement of existing product and service offerings by benchmarking against competing firms, proactively eliciting the market’s needs, and working with both key parties within the company, regulators, business partners to build alliances, and win support in launching innovative product / service offerings that improve the competitiveness and market dominance of Watt Renewables.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
Extensive experience in commercial management, preferably within renewable energy or project-driven industries.
Proven track record in leading commercial teams and managing complex projects.
Strong negotiation skills and experience with high-value contracts.
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
